Anne Hathaway looks like a completely different person on the cover of Vanity Fair in a very, very, very good way.
The The Idea of You star transformed herself into a sleek seductress with a faux pompadour pixie hairstyle and deep, dark vampy lipstick and eye shadow to match. In the photos, shot by Norman Jean Roy, Hathaway’s dark hair has been pulled up and back in a super tight French twist, which creates the look of a pixie cut from the front without sacrificing actual length. One side of her part is slicked down and sleek, while the other has more volume near her face and at the crown for that pompadour effect. If you’re staring at her straight on, it certainly looks like she has short hair, but when she turns her head you can marvel at the precision of that glamorous, sculpted twist. (Hair legend Orlando Pita is responsible for the look.)
The femme fatale vibe doesn’t stop with her hair, either. Hathaway truly smolders in a smoky bronze and brown eye with color layered all the way up to her perfectly arched dark brows and brushed out past her outer corners, courtesy makeup artist Gucci Westman, who frequently works with the star. Bold strokes of deep black eyeliner on her inner waterlines adds to the dark and dangerous aesthetic, as does the lush wine-colored lipstick and matching vampy manicure. (Her exact lip? Westman Atelier Lip Suede Hydrating Matte Lipstick in Lou Lou.) These images are so sultry they might set your screen on fire, just a warning.
In the interview, Hathaway discusses her early days in Hollywood and how she was told she had no sex appeal — something she immediately dismissed. “I was like, ‘I’m a Scorpio. I know what I’m like on a Saturday night,’” the actor shared. After seeing these photos, we definitely get what she means. The Scorpio energy is strong!
